"Coded Textile" Collaboration work with ANREALAGE -Toru Urakawa

IN THE NOISE
IT BECOMES MEANINGLESS
CODE THE NOISE
IT MAKES MEANINGFUL

The theme of the Autumn-Winter 2016-17 collection is “NOISE”.
If the noise is meaningless
we would like to show meaningful noise through the collection.

This time we applied a special technic called “Visual Cryptography”in collaboration with Toru Urakawa (Qosmo, Inc.), who acts as a computer programmer and an artist.

At first glance, the fabric pattern looks like a snow noise but
several informations are coded in the fabric just like a cryptography by a computer program.
When seen through a transparent filter, these informations are « decoded » : new prints appear.
Thanks to an advanced digital technology, you catch informations from the « noise » combining layers of fabrics.
Now you will see binary patterns such as hound tooth check, checkerboard and horizontal stripes.
In the finale, to the tune of “The Flower Duet”, floral motifs appear as if bursting out of noised patterns .

ーMeaningful are the garments made with a prayer.

Toru made a textile which has hidden “code” in it, using a technology called “visual cryptography”.
When you see the each papers, you can’t see anything.
But once they overlapped each other, you can see some patterns on it.
