A New AI × Music Series “Beyond 2045” Starts

On November 19, the first session of “Beyond 2045,” a new series exploring the future of AI and music, was held.

Hosted by artist Daito Manabe and our CEO Nao Tokui, the series has launched as a lecture and performance program that examines the relationship between AI and music from multiple perspectives.

Nearly ten years have passed since “2045,” an experimental event series led by the two starting in 2015. Today, as generative AI has become widespread and music can be created with a single click, Beyond 2045 was conceived as a space to once again ask: What does it mean for humans to create music? — and to explore what lies beyond generative AI.

Guest – Session #1: yaboihanoi

The first guest was artist and AI researcher yaboihanoi.　Originally from Thailand, he previously conducted research on sound synthesis at Google Magenta and ByteDance, and is now based in Bangkok, working as an artist. Earlier this year, he drew significant attention at Barcelona’s Sónar Festival with a powerful performance that fused cutting-edge AI technologies with Thai cultural elements.

At the event, he spoke about his research and creative practice and presented a live performance—shown in Japan for the first time—which captivated the audience.

Neutone Demo

At the event, we also presented a live demo by Neutone, our subsidiary developing experimental music tools using AI.

The demonstration was led by Matthias Schäfer, a member of the Qosmo / Neutone team, who introduced Neutone’s latest developments and showcased how AI-driven sound transformation can be used in practice.

What’s Next

“Beyond 2045” will continue as an irregular series. As a new platform to explore the relationship between AI and music from multiple perspectives, we plan to keep organizing future sessions with a diverse range of guests. Please stay tuned for the next event.
