In March 2019, at the "Graphic Design and Co-Creation with AI" exhibition held at Tokyo Midtown Design Hub, we presented a joint research project with The Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA).

Our company has been conducting experiments using machine learning in collaboration with JAGDA since 2017, with the aim of exploring the development and potential of graphic design in the future. This exhibition reports on the progress of that research and introduces examples from a wide range of AI research that are relevant to the field of graphic design.

We exhibited four works, including an animation poster that visualizes the process of generating countless variations as the AI learns to model the Bauhaus building blocks in 3D, and a visual work in which AI classifies works featured in the JAGDA’s annual book according to various characteristics.

The involvement of AI in the field of design is a significant topic, and this exhibition deepens the discussion about the relationship between AI and design by exploring the possibilities of collaboration between graphic design and AI.
