Adaptive Music
Adaptive Music example: "Roland Soundscape" installation created for Roland.
On a rainy day, something quieter. As the room fills up, something livelier.
Adaptive Music is a system in which the music itself changes in response to its surroundings. Drawing on real-time information such as weather, time of day, and occupancy, it generates music that never repeats the same passage — while holding to the sonic world you've defined. Beyond spatial design, it also supports personal applications aimed at focus and relaxation.
Music that adapts and never stands still
Temperature, weather, time, season, the density and position of people in a room. The system takes in this information from the space and reflects it in the music as it plays, so the sound is continually reshaping itself. For personal applications, biometric signals such as heart rate and brainwave data can serve as inputs. The range extends from music that enhances the character of a space to music designed for specific functions — sleep, relaxation, concentration.
Distinctiveness through artist collaboration
At minimum, an artist provides only a few reference tracks and a sound design. From there, the system generates endless variation — this is what sets Adaptive Music apart. Rather than the generic, faceless output typical of AI-generated music, what plays is music that retains the artist's own signature. It becomes a way of expressing a brand's identity.
It should be said that music which changes continuously, around the clock and year-round, cannot realistically be produced by human hands alone. This is a domain that only AI makes possible.
A proprietary lightweight AI model, built with copyright in mind
All of this runs on a lightweight AI model developed in-house at Qosmo. Because it requires no training on large datasets of uncertain provenance, you can adopt the system without carrying copyright concerns.
Retail and hospitality environments
A soundscape shaped by a particular artist's sensibility, delivered without interruption, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It drifts with the weather and the hour, never showing quite the same face twice — so neither long-staying guests nor staff who spend the whole day there grow numb to it. The music can be shaped by time of day as well: sparser and brighter at opening, denser through the evening peak. The musicality of the artist a brand chooses becomes the character of the space itself, and a direct point of differentiation.
Improving the office environment
The sound environment of a workspace, designed around the rhythm of the working day. Shifts in the music support concentration as the morning gets underway, through the focused hours of the afternoon, and into a gentler wind-down before the day ends. It also serves to mask conversation and HVAC noise, easing the ambient-noise stress particular to open-plan offices. Linked to occupancy data, the system can adjust automatically to how busy a floor is.
Wellness facilities and personal use
Using biometric signals such as heart rate and brainwave data as inputs, the system delivers music attuned to the state of each individual. Beyond spas, salons, and meditation or yoga studios, it can be configured to shift the texture of the sound in stages as a treatment progresses. We also welcome joint development with partners who bring expertise in medical and healthcare fields.
